A Better Way to Build

At Plum Windows and Doors we are green building certified and committed to a greener and brighter future. Our products are long lasting, energy-efficient and made from 10% recycled material. These are just a few reasons that Plum windows are Green Build Certified.

Green Building Rating System

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED addresses all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies in five areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Our commitment to environmental responsibility is two-fold: How our windows and doors are made and what they can do for your home.

Our Green Products

  • Fiberglass pultrusions have low embodied energy.  This means that “the total energy required to produce a product from the raw materials stage through delivery.”
  • Our product’s main ingredient is glass, which is made from sand, an abundant natural resource.
  • More energy efficient which, in turn saves on utility bills.

  • More durable and energy efficient than wood.
  • Fiberglass is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional choices.
  • Good insulator against heat and cold, helping to conserve energy while reducing utility bills.
  • Recycled materials are used for the composite sills.

Eco-friendly Manufacturing and Delivery

  • Fiberglass takes less energy to make than vinyl, plus it’s made from silica sand – a safe and renewable resource.
  • Window packaging includes recyclable corrugated cardboard and biodegradable banding.
  • Our fleet of diesel trucks contain regulators to ensure our emissions are below required levels.
  • We recycle all the old windows and doors that we replace.

Benefits of Green Homes

  • The fiberglass used to construct Plum windows and doors provides superior strength, resistance to heat, UV Rays and corrosion, when compared with other materials. Here in the desert, where extreme temperatures are prevalent, installing anything but fiberglass is simply irresponsible.
  • Low E3-coated, dual-pane glass is standard on all of our windows – allowing us to meet Energy Star qualifications.
